Septic service across Augusta and Richmond County. Georgia certified, permits handled through the East Central Health District, and we cross the river every day.
Augusta is a Fall Line city, which means septic conditions vary sharply across it: Piedmont clay to the north and west, Coastal Plain sand to the south and east toward Hephzibah. Georgia permits go through the county health department, not the state. Richmond County sits in the East Central Health District, which has 20 days to approve a completed application, and a construction permit is valid 12 months.
Most city pages on contractor websites are the same paragraph with the town name swapped in. This one isn't, because Augusta has things worth knowing that the next town over doesn't share.
If you've only built on the South Carolina side, this is the thing to understand. Georgia onsite sewage is governed by state rule but permits are issued by the County Board of Health, not by a state agency. Richmond County falls under the East Central Health District, which covers thirteen counties from Augusta.
Three practical differences from South Carolina:
That last one matters for scheduling. On a Georgia job, the county inspector is on your critical path and you plan around it.
The Fall Line runs through Augusta, which means conditions change meaningfully depending on where in the county you are. North and west of the city you're generally into Piedmont clay and narrow stream valleys. South and east, toward Hephzibah and Burke County, you're into Coastal Plain sand and wider floodplains. Two properties fifteen minutes apart can need very different systems.
Same 1,000 gallon minimum for up to four bedrooms and the same 250 gallons per additional bedroom. But Georgia also requires:
With Fort Eisenhower in Richmond County, VA loan volume in this market is high. On a VA purchase the appraiser performs the initial evaluation and a full septic inspection is triggered only if they raise a concern. If you're selling a septic property to a VA buyer, having a recent inspection and a clean written report in hand takes a variable out of your closing.
Everything on the list, and we're a local company rather than an operation dispatching from two counties away.
