Beech Island sits below the Fall Line along the Savannah River in Aiken County, which generally means sandier Coastal Plain soils with a shallower water table near the river. Permits go through SCDES with a $150 site evaluation. Larger rural lots here usually make the 50 percent repair area requirement straightforward.
Most city pages on contractor websites are the same paragraph with the town name swapped in. This one isn't, because Beech Island has things worth knowing that the next town over doesn't share.
Beech Island is on the Coastal Plain side, so the soils are generally sandier and better draining than the Piedmont clay north and west. That's usually favourable for septic. The constraint here isn't texture, it's depth to the seasonal water table, particularly on parcels closer to the river and in low-lying areas.
South Carolina requires at least six inches of vertical separation to the zone of saturation for systems under 1,500 gallons per day. On a low parcel in a wet year, that separation is what a site evaluation fails on. Where it does, elevated or mounded designs are the usual answer.
A lot of Beech Island property is acreage with systems installed decades ago and no surviving paperwork.
