The Legend

He never said "7 y Media." When the winning card fell, he called "7 y Michi" — and luck always answered.

Emilio Kapetillo played cards his whole life. His game was 7 y Media — a cousin of blackjack — and when he pulled the card that won the hand, he never called it by name. He called it "7 y Michi," his own word for fortune.

The luck stuck. So did the name. He passed it to his grandson, Juan Estefan, who has been "Michi" ever since — and who carried his grandfather's spirit into the wine he always meant to make.

Every bottle of 7 Y Michi is a way of dealing that same luck forward: humble, generous, and meant to be shared at the table.
